Mason City is the urban and commercial center of North Iowa, serving as the commercial, industrial, retail and service center of gravity for a wide swath of the state. Located 120 miles north of Des Moines and 135 miles South of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Mason City is home to many of the region’s largest employers, including Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Curries and Kraft Foods.
